A drink that reduces the risk of blood clots

A new study conducted by researchers confirmed that drinking tea helps protect heart and brain health from the risk of blood clots.
The researchers, in the study published in the journal Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy, noted the benefits of the tea plant compound.
Known as cystatin, a compound in the tea plant has been shown to promote "anticoagulation." Cystatin helps thin the blood by causing blood vessels to relax and preventing platelets from sticking together.
"Tea is known for its heart-healthy properties, including lowering blood pressure and its antioxidant effects," said Dr. Jill Jenkins.
These health benefits can be attributed to the polyphenols found in tea, such as flavonoids.
"This new research has now revealed another benefit, with a natural compound in tea that helps protect the heart and brain by reducing clotting," added Jenkins. According to Russia Today.
The doctor explained: "This adds to evidence that regular tea drinkers are less likely to develop heart disease or stroke."
Jenkins referred to another research study that proved how beneficial tea consumption is for people's health.
Based on a survey of "almost half a million British A***", the results revealed that drinking three cups of tea a day is ideal. This is because drinking three cups a day was associated with a 24% lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease.
A comprehensive review by Dr. Tim Bond, Dr. Jill Jenkins and Dr. Emma Derbyshire also highlights the heart and brain health benefits of drinking tea on a regular basis.
The review highlighted that tea consumption is associated with improved vascular and endothelial function, which may help lower blood pressure.
In addition, tea consumption has been associated with improved attention and motor speed.
Also, drinking the tea can reduce the risk of depression due to the relaxing effects of L-theanine and improve blood circulation in the brain.
Nutritionist Dr. Carrie Ruxton said: "There are so many things we can do to improve our heart health. But drinking a few cups of tea every day is definitely one of the easiest and most enjoyable choices."
Roxton added: “The benefits of tea for vascular health, blood pressure control and fighting oxidative stress and inflammation that damage the body's cells are well known. It doesn't matter if you prefer (regular) black or green tea because they both come from the same plant and provide high levels of polyphenols.
He said polyphenols are "active plant compounds that support cardiovascular health."
Research shows that drinking tea can reduce the chance of a blood clot, which can be life-threatening.
The UK NHS highlights the warning signs of a blood clot, including:
- Palpitations or cramps, pain, swelling, redness and warmth in the leg or arm.
Sudden shortness of breath, sharp chest pain (may be worse when you breathe in), coughing or coughing up blood
